INTRODUCTION

Although the original proposal for a standard gauge connection between N.S.W. and Queensland was mooted in 1885 and the first section of the line opened in 1894, it was not until 1930 that the line was opened to South Brisbane. Standard gauge trains finally made it to the Brisbane City Terminus at Roma Street in 1986 when the world Expo Authority acquired the site of the South brisbane Station for the 1988 World Expo Fun Park.
