"NR Class - An Early History (NR31-NR45)"

By Ed Tonks

Paperback cover 32 pages black/white photos

INTRODUCTION

Many of the NRs featured in the two previous Early History books have been the subject of change. NR3 is being rebuilt at the Goninan Broadmeadow plant and should trial early in 2000 as NR121. NRs 18 and NR19 have been noted with St George interest plates affixed to the No. 2 end on the battery side. In fact the inside rear cover of NR16-NR30 contains photographs that could not be retaken.

From about mid 1999 the NR cab numbers have been enlarged and the type, size and location of the Australian flag have been altered. This has resulted in ghost outlines of previous numbers, ghost outlines of previous positions of the flag and a need to reposition the name plate because of the new position of the flag; or, without removing the name plate temporarily ignore the addition of a new flag.
