INTRODUCTION
A Worthwhile Hobby - There is nothing better in making a young person into a good citizen than for them to have a wholesome interest in something worthwhile.
I found an interest in trains when I was a teenager, starting off wtih a simple Hornby train set, adding carriages, rails, points and scenery, certainly created interest and a desire to learn more. Watching dad build a model layout and then being given the privelege to use it, under his watchful eye, consumed many pleasurable hours, keeping me out of those activities which so often lead young people astray.
I had a real break when an employee of the New South Wales Government Railways 'took me under his wing' and we travelled many miles taking photographs of locos and trains throughout NSW. Little did I realise at the time what value these photos would have in 1991.
