The facts and details are very valuable and help to establish connection and ownership of the machinery and movement that kept us all in the manner and custom of the day and kept our families and friends gainfully employed.
John Evans has captured the essence of what it was like to be part of a wonderful corporate system that moved copious amounts of freight, livestock and mankind around the State. No one else I know has the friends or contacts, the intimate knowledge, the personal anecdotes, the technical data, the recall, or the 'from the heart' interest, to put the time and obvious affection into this story. No one else has as effectively put into words what railway people feel and remember so well.
