"Stations Remembered - SAR - Yacka & Gulnare"

By Steve McNicol

Paperback cover 24 pages black/white photos

PUBLISHER'S NOTE

In this book we continue the journey northwards towards Gladstone, a section of the railway line that was photographed much less than from Brinkworth to the south. To compensate for the lack of photographs we have increased the amount of text (in particular the historical content) and also started to include drawings. While this does venture even further outside the original criteria for this series we have found a great deal of interest in earlier events and milestones. It also records, albeit in this very modest form, a part of our railway history that may otherwise have been forgotten.

In the Truto, Stockwell & Plush's Corner book we also included another feature of the line that was not related to a station - Penrice Quarry. We have done the same thing in this book by including the railway bridge at Yacka. Not only is this a significant structure in its own right, but it is the last tangible reminder that there was ever a railway line in this part of the country.
