Northern Coal 2013 Pt 3 and Pt 4 followed the path of loaded trains from the Narrabri area to Willow Tree and from Willow Tree though to Branxton respectively. In Northern Coal 2013 Pt 5, we completed the loaded return journey, this time between Allendale and Kooragang Island in Newcastle.
We view loaded coal trains up to 96 wagons long and weighing in at 11,500 tonnes in the liveries of Pacific National, Xstrata Rail Whitehaven and Aurizon (formerly QR National), have a brief view of the new PacNat train servicing facility near Greta, see action on the now operative second section of the ‘up relief’ road between Greta and Rutherford, view the location of the proposed new Aurizon train servicing depot at Hexham and conclude with a visit to the Kooragang Island coal receival facilities.
Locomotives seen in this DVD-R include EL, CF, TT, VL, WH, XRN, 11, 30T, 32, 36, 90, 92, 5000 and 5020 Class in the liveries of Aurizon (QR National), CFCLA, Freight Corp, NSWGR, PacNat, Whitehaven and Xstrata, whilst passenger traffic is represented by CountryLink’s Explorers and CityRail’s Hunter and Endeavour rail cars.
