In 2002 the operations and rolling stock of National Rail and FreightCorp (which up until that time had been semi direct competitors in rail fright haulage, the former owned by the Federal, NSW and Victorian governments, the latter by the NSW government) were merged together to become Pacific National. This merged operation was sold to a joint venture between the Patrick Corporation and Toll Holdings, which formed the holding company Asciano.

The presentation ‘Pacific National – The Early Years’ covered the start of the transition of the combined National Rail and FreightCorp fleet to a common livery, primarily during the period 2002 through 2005.

Pacific National – The Later Years’ covers operation and appearance of this fleet beyond 2005. We view additional classes such as the 92, 93 TT and PB classes which were constructed post 2005 and delivered in the new livery as well as some of the older classes like BL, DL, NR, 80 and 81 class which received this new livery after undergoing major overhauls. In addition we see some older members DL, G, NR, P, X, 48, 80 and 81 still in former and semi-modified colours.

This presentation concentrates on later PacNat operations beyond 2005 where we see a PacNat fleet moving closer towards a common livery.

Approximate run time: 122 minutes.
