INTRODUCTION

Early in 1978 the Lachlan Valley Railway Society formed a tours committee and decided to link up some of its rolling stock and locomotive movements by running tours. This way the various items could be collected together at Cowra. Three trips were planned for three months April to June and the first was to be 5367 going from Werris Creek to Moree and return followed by 5367 relocating to Orange and then later 6042 from Parkes and 5367 joining in a partly doubled headed tour to Cowra. By 2nd July all these has taken place and to add to the variety for 1978 local trips based on Cowra using 3026T and the Public Transport Commission's Rail Motors were run to give travellers, especially from Sydney, a journey on the branch lines in the area. At the end of the year 5917 came down from its commitment in Canberra (to the A.R.H.S. A.C.T. Division) and following successful negotiations with the transport austhorities and the Festival of Sydney Committee was to be used on Kiama Beach Tours in January and February 1979.
