The fifth in this popular series of videos illustrating a wide range of diesel locomotives, many now no longer in regular service, working in a variety of locations in New South Wales. Highlights of this video include:
- 48s hauling wheat trains through spectacular mountain scenery on the “pioneer” line from Coonabarabran to Baradine in April 1998.
- Preserved diesel 4486 working with steam loco 5367 on a train from Cowra to Junee
- The movement of South Australian & West Australian locos to & from Sydney for the Cyde Engineering Centenary held in July 1998.
- A day in May 1994 spent in the Southern Highlands recording 422 class locos on passenger & freight trains, five candy 48s on a heavy grain train, candy 81s blasting through Exeter, and more.
- The last few 49s still in service in April 1997 working Sydney trip trains.
