Along the Track in Victoria - Late 1994 and early 1996

This is the sixth in the RailView series of enthusiast-produced trackside productions looking at regular passenger and freight operations in NSW and other Australian states.  RailView 6 looks at operations in Victoria in December 1994 and again in February 1996, between which times big changes in the routing of interstate traffic between Victoria and South Australia had taken place.  RailView 6 combines a nostalgic look at recently discontinued operations with many scenes of current running in a number of areas of the State.

The Programme opens with 1994 scenes east and west of Bacchus Marsh, on a route that was the main interstate link with South Australia.  We then move to 1996 and look at running in the north-east and the north.  The Stony Point line is the next setting, as we look at the passenger service between there and Frankston.

After spending time on the Geelong line near Werribee, Laverton and Little River, we see West Coast Railway trains crossing at Winchelsea.  We then more to the new standard gauge Cressy route and view trains near Derinallum and Geringhap.  This is followed by some scenes on the Geelong – ballarat line, the Melbourne – Bendigo line near Castelmain and one shot on the Dimboola – Yaapeet standard gauge branch line.

Locomotive classes senn in this video are: A, B, C, G, H, N, P, S, T, X, BL, 700, 81 and 422; Sprinters, E.M.U.s and the XPT also figure.

There is no narration and no music in Trains Alive productions.  The only sounds are of trains and the countryside they run through.  Scenes are numbered briefly and there are comprehensive Background Notes provided.
