Volumes 5 & 6 of Stories of Steam contained footage of preserved steam locomotives operating around NSW recorded from 1991 to 1996 and had only been released on VHS tape.
For this DVD the original footage of selected chapters has been digitally remastered and edited to produce 77 minutes of spectacular and now historic steam locomotive action.
Some of the highlights include...
3642, 5910 & 3801 triple heading up the escarpment to Robertson; 3112 hauling shuttles to Ryde and Carlingford and working with SMR18 to Neath; 3016 in blue livery running to Michelago; the amazing sight of 5910 crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge; 2705 working solo on the main southern line and the incredibly rare sight of 3801 double heading with 5910 hauling a regular revenue freight service from Lithgow to Orange in 1995.
