Volumes 1 & 2 of “Stories of Steam” was originally only released on VHS cassette and the original footage has now been digitally re-mastered for this DVD production. Recorded from 1992 to 1999, a variety of steam locomotives is shown working in a range of locations across New South Wales.
Highlights include:
- Newly restored 1210 hauling shuttles out of Canberra in April 1992.
- 5910 storming the grades to Armidale in the winter of 1997.
- 3001, 3642 & 5910 triple heading over the Blue Mountains in May 1996.
- 3801 working with SMR18 to Robertson in July 1998.
- 3830 blasting through the Southern Highlands in June 1999.
- Very busy days with up to six locomotives in steam on the Thirlmere loop line.
- 3801 with a very heavy tour to the Zig Zag railway in August 1998.
