Into The Night

Holdsworth, Malcolm

Commencing with “Heavy Metal” and the “Famous Last Lines” series, we moved into exclusive NSWGR books with “Northern Exposures”, “Lenses South”, and “Shooting The West” covering the three main regions of the NSWGR.

Two more NSW books were the sellouts “Superheat” and “Smoke”, which were incredibly popular as well.

On the international side, “Where There’s Smoke” parts 1 & 2 covered the world of steam from the 1960s through to its demise. More recently “Late Light” and “Last Light” showcased more of the efforts of George Bambery, Malcolm Holdsworth and Robert Kingsford Smith.

All good things come to an end, and eventually the stocks are exhausted. “Into The Night” is one last effort to do justice to the many amazing locations where steam shone in the latter days. To provide greater variety, excellent photographers Mike Tyack and Mark Lanham have been given space to show their work, together with another range of action from Robert Kingsford Smith and Malcolm Holdsworth. Mark grew up in South Africa, encouraged by his dad’s love of narrow gauge.

As usual, early adopters are rewarded with a discounted price. These days 188 pages of superb colour would sell for over $100, and we have kept the pre-release price to $70 plus postage.

As the final all colour publication, there are over 30 pages of local Australian content, much of it around the famed “Hawkmount” area north of Sydney. Combined with some high quality shots of UK steam excursions, the famous Jacobite, which still operates in Scotland, and many of the best photographic locations of the last 50 years, this volume compliments earlier offerings and will make a great addition to your collection, just in time for Christmas.
