  • $19.95

This DVD video production shows trains at work on the North Coast line between Brisbane and North Bundaberg.

A line from Maryborough to the rich gold-mining town of Gympie opened in 1881.

Brisbane was linked to Maryborough, and on to Bundaberg in 1891.

The whole North Coast line to Cairns was not completed until 1924. It was electrified to Rockhampton in 1988-9.

Nowadays, the North Coast line is a major artery. It sees the Rockhampton and Cairns Tilt Train services, the Sunlander, Queenslander and Inlander locomotive-hauled passenger services, plus outer suburban workings as far as Gympie.

Freight traffic is heavy, consisting predominantly of containers.

Most of it moves by night, but there are some express services during the day.

Approximate run time: 37 minutes.
