Farewell State Transit - a History of Government Bus Services in New South Wales between 1932-2022

Researched and compiled by renowned Australian transport historian and former State Transit manager Greg Travers, this book explores the rich and fascinating 90-year history of government-operated bus services in New South Wales.

From the modest beginning on Christmas Day 1932, the goverment operation rapidly grew to serve large areas of metropolitan Sydney and Newcastle. Until recent times, the NSW Government maintained Australia's largest bus fleet, and for six decades even operated the bulk of Sydney's commuter ferry services.

Comprising over 20 chapters plus detailed fleet tabulations, Farewell State Transit provides an in-depth record of this once formidable public transport organisation and its predecessors. Lavishly illustrated with many previously unpublished photographs, the book covers every aspect from administration to vehicles and much more - including behind the scenes anecdotes.
