DS-P20 Overhead Wires, Catenaries 1989
SHEET P20 - OVERHEAD WIRES, CATENARIES, c.1989
This sheet documents the typical configurations of three types of catenaries used c.1989;
Simple Spans, Simple Spans with Twin Contacts, and Compound Spans.
The sizes of the spans have been selected to fit the page width, but the dimensions for the setting out of spans of different lengths are indicated. Likewise, the height between the
contact and catenary wires at masts or portals are drawn at the ‘preferred’ distance of 6’8”, but it is noted that this is variable. This height as drawn on Sheets 17 - 19 is less than the preferred distance to enable the drawings to fit the page, but are consistent with the sizes indicated on the NSWGR source documents.
Details at 1:10.875 scale depict the fittings used, including the droppers and feeders used
with Simple Spans and with Compound Spans. The materials and sizes of all catenaries,
contacts, droppers, and feeders are shown.
