Featuring all the various classes of rail motor, rail motor trailer, rail bus, power van and trailer, used by the Government railway system of New South Wales.
The video opens by briefly mentioning (with a model and still shots), the two one-off vehicles, Rail Motors No1 & No2 built in 1919 and 1922, before launching into the main theme, beginning with the CPH with scenes of these units with original crown lights, tongue-and-groove timber sides etc, followed by units as modified over the years, in the red colour.

A brief coverage of Rail motor 38 (Creamy Kate) follows, in red colour, with close-up of the unusual radiator. Still shots of two of the 1937 rail buses appear next, then the Silver City Comet, on tour, and in regular service, in candy, red, and the silver colour schemes.

Next is the 400 in the Moree - Inverell area, plus views in use as a radio test vehicle, followed by the popular 600, 620 etc., two-car diesel trains in a variety of colour schemes, then the air conditioned counterpart, the 900 DEB set, seen over its career, in a range of colour schemes. The Budd Cars and Tulloch Cars are covered next, including one scene in a most unusual location, Electric Station. Included is their current use as loco hauled cars.

Unfortunately no film was available of FP13, the one unit of the second series of rail buses that carried passengers, however FP8, identical externally is included, courtesy of Lachlan Valley Railway. The video concludes with the XPT, with scenes from a variety of locations.

Except for a few historic scenes, the video is in full colour with authentic sound. Much of the tape was shot on an ENG camera, or 16mm film, however many of the historic scenes are from super 8 or 9.5mm film.

Approximate run time: 60 minutes.
