44 CLASS FAREWELL chronicles the last few years of 44 class service leading up to and including the scrapping or sale of the locomotives to private operators.
Recorded from 1993 to 1995, 44s are seen hard at work on the main northern, western and southern lines.
Two special tours, one to the Illawarra and the other to Ulan, commemorating the withdrawal of the class are featured, along with scenes from the Alco auction held at Cardiff in December 1994 followed by the mass movement and scrapping of the loco-motives the following year.
