RailView 1 - Along the Track in NSW - 1992
This is the first in a new series of enthusiast-produced trackside productions looking at freight and passenger rail operations in NSW and other Australian states.
RailView 1 opens with scenes on the Illawarra, followed by views of freight trains on the near West and South, and a longer look at workings on the North, mainly near Thornton.
An in-depth look at trains on the South follows, with a day’s activities between Moss Vale and Exeter being covered. The last section covers operations in the West, focusing on the Wallerawang – Kandos line and the main West at Wallerawang, Sodwalls and Wambool.
Locomotive combinations seen include: 422 + 44, 4 48s, 2 48s + 2 44s , 3 442s, 2 422s, 81 + c, 3 80s, 4 44s and more!
Railview 2 - Along the Track in NSW - 1992 / 1993
The programme opens with scenes on the Western Line, with a variety of trains set in locations like Wallerawang, Sodwalls Curve and Tumulla Bank. Included are some shots in electrified territory.
A short excursion into the lush Illawarra scene is then made, and this is followed by the longest section: the Southern Line, around Picton, Douglas Park, Tahmoor and Wingello.
The last section covers running on the Northern and North Coast Lines, with locations including Quipolly, Willow Tree, Ardglen, Dingadee and Monkerai.
Locomotive combinations seen include: 4 48s, 422 + 44, 3 44s, 3 80s + 48, 2 Gs, 4 49s, 442 + 45, 48 + 81, 2 422s and the spectacular 80 + 442 + 44 + 44 + 442!
There is no narration and no music in Trains Alive productions. The only sounds are of trains and the countryside they run through. Scenes are numbered briefly and there are Background Notes provided.
