Featuring New South Wales from 1990 to 1991.

The Intercapital Daylight is nearing the end of it's career when our camera catches it at several locations, between Carramar and Bethungra. Locos are mostly 81 class Clyde GM, but Vline diesels appear too. Includes a view of both the up and the down final runs, with that beautiful symmetrical sight of back to back 44 class Goodwin Alcos on the down run. This segment includes an inspection of Binalong, a station with many features from a byegone era.

We next look at the massive coal trains now running on the Ulan Line, beginning with scenes between Denman & Muswellbrook then on the Ulan line itself, with trains of 42 and 72 wagons behind double and triple 81 class. GM power shaking the ground!

The Northern Line around Ardglen, sees XPT passenger trains and 81s on freights in great scenery with trackwork calling for "flags & detonators" and the flagman is a scene from the past with a real old style campfire. Nearby at Willow Tree the local points frame is operated to allow shuffling of the bank engines used on Ardglen Bank.

Steam in all it's glory, as 4-6-0 3642 and 2-8-2 5910 blast skywards as only steam can, with a Rail Transport Museum tour up the Blue Mountains. There are lineside scenes at Toongabbie, Nepean Bridge, then numerous scenic locations up the steep grade to Katoomba.  At Lithgow the engines are turned and serviced.

Captured mostly on professional Betacam, or 16mm film. Some older segments were taken on 8mm, super 8 and 9.5mm formats, professionally transferred, plus some professional Umatic. All has been edited on one inch tape and directly duplicated. The one inch tape master transferred to digital for release on DVD.

An Original Rowlingstock Production.

Approximate run time: 55 minutes.
