Steam Locomotive Depots in NSW: Narrabri West and Moree; It's in the Blood - The Cessnock Express; A Tribute to Bob Booth

Volume 28 features 144 pages with essays on:

Steam Locomotive Depots in NSW: Narrabri West and Moree.
The feature essay in this volume is Ray Love's coverage of the two steam locomotive depots located in the remote north-west of the state of New South Wales. Once again, in fine detail, Ray covers the history and operation of the depots with material from official files, his personal records, and many interviews with railwaymen. As usual there are many photographs and drawings that cover the steam era right from the beginning. This essay includes a number of departmental drawings of facilities such as locomotive sheds, coal stages, etc.

It's in the Blood - The Cessnock Express.
Stephen Halgren reflects on his early interest in railways and records some of his experiences with the history and coverage of the Cessnock Express. It was once a daily train from Sydney to the Hunter Valley and one on which he frequently travelled from Sydney to Wyong in the mid-1960s, the highlight being 38 class haulage north from Gosford.

A Tribute to Bob Booth.
Ray Love pays tribute to noted railway photographer, historian and author Bob Booth, who passed away during 2011. The eulogy is accompanied by a number of Bob's best steam-era images as well as a collection of colour from his brother and photographing companion, Peter.
