G:Link, also known as the Gold Coast Light Rail, is a 13km dual track standard gauge light rail system operating from Broadbeach South to Gold Coast University Hospital (near Griffiths University) with 14 intermediate tram stops. Construction commenced mid 2010 and commercial service began on 20th July 2014.

The system is operated by KDR Gold Coast, a joint venture between Keolis and Downer Rail. The system is powered by 750VDC overhead catenary and the rolling stock consists of 16 Bombardier ‘Flexity 2’ seven segment trams. These trams reflect the latest in light rail technology with low floors, 6 dual entry and 2 single entry doors per side and dedicated spaces for wheelchairs, prams and surf boards.

In this presentation, we will take a complete ride around the system from Broadbeach South to Gold Coast University Hospital and return as viewed from the tram driver’s perspective, interspersed with scenes viewed from Gold Coast roads, stations and other points of interest.

Approximate run time: 90 minutes.
