In this presentation we continue on from ‘Main South Review Pt 2’, moving south from Bomen (near Wagga Wagga) through to Albury-Wodonga and reviewing in detail the changes to operators, operation and infrastructure that have occurred since the release of the presentations ‘Main South Line Parts 4 & 5’.

These changes include the July 2011 re-introduction of VLine passenger train services between Albury and Melbourne (now on standard gauge tracks) and change to the Wodonga community brought about by the opening of the new Wodonga railway station and the decommissioning of the seven former protected level crossings on the old broad and standard gauge alignment rendered redundant by the Wodonga Railway bypass. We also take a much closer look at aspects of, and traffic over, this bypass and view the site of the November 2010 Pacific National steel train derailment which shut down the Main South Line for some 10 days.

Locomotives seen in action include B, G, GL, LDP, N, NR, T, X and 81 classes in the various revised liveries whilst passenger traffic includes XPT’s and locomotive hauled passenger carriages in the new liveries of CountryLink and VLine respectively.

Approximate run time: 90 minutes.
