This presentation covers action on the Short North Line (Sydney to Broadmeadow) in 2009 through to 2011 and reviews changes that have occurred since the original Short North Line Pt1 and Pt2 presentations were released back in 2008.

QR National is now almost exclusively utilising dual and triple LDP class locomotives on their Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne train, Patrick PortLink services have ceased, Independent Rail has introduced its MZ class into intermodal and containerised grain services, SSR has started coal haulage out of Newstan Colliery, the Sulphide Junction line to Pesminko and Incitec has closed followed by local soil contamination clean-up work and Broadmeadow goods yard has now become a ‘depot’ for wagons and locomotives of the smaller rail operators, predominately those involved in coal haulage.

Locomotives seen in this presentation include C, CEY, DL, EL, G, GL, GM, LDP, NR, RL,XRN, 1100, 421, 442, 48s, 49, 81, and 82 in the liveries of CFCLA, Coote Industrial, Freight Corp, Green Trains, Interail, National Rail, QUBE, Silverton, SSR, PacNat, QR National and Xtrata whilst passenger equipment includes Explorer, XPT, Interurban and Oscar cars in CountryLink and City Rail livery.
