This presentation covers changes in coal operation in the Hunter Valley since the release of both the presentations ‘Hunter Heavies’ back in 2002 and ‘Hunter Review’ in 2009.
We concentrate on the newer PacNat’s 92, TT0, TT1 and QR National’s 6000 and 5020 classes but also view the formers 82, 90, G and PL/48 and the latter’s 5000 class. Also viewed are Whitehaven locomotives and coal trains, the first of PacNat’s Pelton coal operations using leased EL class and Xstrata Rail’s new XNR class locomotives and coal wagons shortly after their delivery. A more recent entrant, Coote Industrial, is seen operating 80, 442, 48 and RL class on its containerised mineral trains for Mountain Industries. We view all of the above as we travel from Port Waratah towards Whittingham.
