17020307 - Ford Escort - Grey (HO Scale)

You will only mistake this Escort for a grey mouse at a quick first glance

Those who found it hard to warm up to the loud colours of the Flower Power paintwork dominating the nineteen sixties opted for a classic grey look. However, the hushed tone did not diminish the performance the five-door version of this Ford limousine delivered at the time. The British Ford works struck gold when they decided to add the Escort Mark I to their model range. The design engineers in the British Isles developed their first Escort, which earned the dubious moniker “Dog Bone” early on by virtue of its characteristic radiator grille! The first Escort rolled off the belt in the British town of Halewood in November of 1967 and gained favour quickly. Exceeding even the most optimistic expectations of its manufacturer, its sales numbers beat the estimates by 30% after only two months. In Germany, the first vehicle left the factory in Saarlouis on January 16, 1970, starting a successful production run for the Escort Mark I that did not end until 1974.

Body (four-door) quartz-grey, chassis black-grey. Interior in black with steering wheel in black-grey. Radiator grille in black-grey with frame painted silver.
