40 Foot Jumbo Containers
Following the successful introduction of the 40’ Jumbo box with TNT, other freight forwarders followed in quick succession. Mayne Nickless offered a nightly dedicated service between Sydney and Melbourne, they operated under several brands including MMets, Intermodal and Interlink.
Many of these containers were in continuous use from the mid-1970s through to the beginning of National Rail Corporation in the mid-1990s.
The early TNT, Alltrans, Intermodal and Railex have the branding printed onto etched metal plates attached to the sides.
