The 1980s brought many changes to the rail system of Victoria. In conjunction with the name change of 1983, there was a change in corporate colours for locomotives and passenger rolling stock. Through running of locomotives from South Australia and New South Wales was implemented. The removal of the Guards Van from freight trains brought about a reduction in Train Crew manning from three to two. This practice was later extended to include all passenger services.
The 1980s saw changes to the rail industry of Victoria which could never be envisaged by the forefathers of years past. This 2 disc set covers only part of those turbulent years. Locomotives in the ‘Blue & Gold’ mix with colour schemes of V/Line, South Australia and New South Wales, it is all here! Truly a trip down memory lane.
