RailView 4 - Along the Track in NSW - 1993 / 1994
The RailView series are trackside productions looking at passenger and freight rail operations in NSW and other Australian states. RailView 4 continues on from RailView 2.
The Programme opens with scenes on the Southern Line, both north and south of Goulburn. The North is the next area looked at, with Gloucester, Whittingham and Allandale figuring. The last part of this section consists of a long look at operations north of ‘Murrurundi Mountain”.
The scene now changes to the Western Line, with views of trains at popular locations such as Tummulla Bank, but also at less well known places like Manildra and Peak Hill. The last section looks at the Illawarra Line, with shots taken at Jasper’s Bruch, Bombo and Croom Tunnel.
Locomotive classes seen, in various combinations: 48, 49, 45 (+ 35), 442, 422, 80, 81, C and G. XPTs and a DEB set also figure.
RailView 5 - Along the Track in NSW - 1994 / 1995
RailView 5 opens with scenes on the Northern Line, with a variety of trains on Minimbah Bank, Maitland and Cox’s Gap.
The South is the next area looked at, with shots between Menangle and Tallong. After a short interlude on the Illawarra, the scene changes to the Western Line.
The West provides the settings for most of this production: there is coverage in the Metropolitan area, the Blue Mountains, the Tablelands and the Western Slopes, In the latter area, we see the “Diversion” of National Rail’s trains through Parkes in April – May 1995.
Locomotives seen in various combinations 422, 44, 442, 45, 45, 47, 48, 49, 80, 81, 82, 85, 86, 90, CLP, C and G. The XPT, Endeavours, Xplorers, suburban and interurban electric trains also figure.
There is no narration and no music in Trains Alive productions. The only sounds are of trains and the countryside they run through. Scenes are numbered briefly and there are Background Notes provided.
