Featuring New South Wales 1991 to 1994.

The programme opens on the Western Line with scenes in the Blue Mountains and the Western Suburbs, featuring Intercity and suburban trains in various colours, coal & gravel trains with double 48 class, up to 3 x 86 class Co Co electric locos in blue and in candy. There are single and double 81 class Co-Co diesels in blue and in candy on coal trains. 8142 is in candy on a special train of motor car carriers and flats. Load is rally cars returning from the Sydney-Kalgoorlie rally in 1992. A 46 class Co-Co electric (with original single headlight) is followed on a tour to Richmond. There are Tangara, former parcel van and an XPT in a mix of blue and candy.

In the Gosford area we are entertained by a series of delightful waterside and hilltop views of intercity trains. The main South also features, with 422 in bicentennial colour, Murrumburrah’s lovely brick viaduct and the XPT. A Vline C and G are seen on a goods.

We see views of regular suburban electric services on Sydney’s North Shore, then on the last day of  system-wide use of the red suburban single deck electrics, we cover the assembly of four single deck 8 car suburban sets on the Harbour Bridge, along with the usual hustle and bustle of boats and ferries on the harbour. A series of views follows at North Sydney car sidings beside the harbour, where the picturesque wooden ferry Emerald Star arrives and departs, then the last red single decker departs the sidings.

Although system-wide use had ended, the actual last 1 deck cars in regular service are captured coming from Chullora on an employees service on  23 March 1994 painted in the Zoo paint scheme.

Steam segment... We captured the NSWRTM 4-6-0 3642 on 3801 Ltd cars on the metropolitan goods line, with delightful views over Glebe Viaduct, at Lilyfield and in the cutting at Leichhardt. The videotape closes with 3642 on 5 cars at Beecroft in a fitting finale.

Captured mostly on professional Betacam, or 16mm film. Some older segments were taken on 8mm, super 8 and 9.5mm formats, professionally transferred, plus some professional Umatic. All has been edited on one inch tape and directly duplicated. The one inch tape master transferred to digital for release on DVD.

An Original Rowlingstock Production.

Approximate run time: 55 minutes.
