INTRODUCTION
In December 2011 a friend and I took my '94 Mitsubishi Magna over the back roads from Karoonda to Peebinga. The bitumen ends at Kulkami and after that we travelled over rough and sandy roads, stopping at the site of every siding until we reached Peebinga. There wasn't much left. Most sidings were marked only by a collapsing goods platform or often just a clearing in the mallee scrub. It was a great experience though, as these were places I'd wanted to see since reading Reece Jennings' comments about the Peebinga line in his biography of W. A. Webb.
