A brief history of the 59-class locomotives in New South Wales. Initially allotted to the depots at Enfield and Broadmeadow, the 59-class locomotives were employed on freight services between Enfield and Broadmeadow (the Short North), the North Coast Line to Casino and South Brisbane, and local trip-working and heavy shunting in the Sydney and Newcastle areas.
